WHAT WE ARE

Structured Mental & Psychological Wellbeing Oversight for Television Production

PsyCoach is a specialist safeguarding consultancy providing structured mental health and psychological wellbeing oversight to television productions.

We work with production companies to ensure participant welfare is managed proactively, proportionately, and in alignment with production demands.

Our role is not to sit outside production, but to operate alongside it—providing clear, practical guidance and defined psychological support at each stage of the process.

OUR ROLE IN PRODUCTION

Embedded, Not Adjacent

We operate as an integrated safeguarding function, supporting:

  • Casting and participant selection

  • Pre-production planning

  • On-location filming

  • Post-production and broadcast

Our approach ensures that:

  • safeguarding is anticipated, not reactive

  • risks are identified early and managed proportionately

  • production teams have clear, actionable guidance

HOW WE WORK

Defined. Structured. Proportionate.

All PsyCoach services are:

  • Clearly scoped

  • Time-bound

  • Aligned to production schedules

  • Delivered within a defined safeguarding framework

This ensures:

  • consistency across the production lifecycle

  • clarity for both production teams and participants

  • protection of clinical capacity and delivery quality

CLINICAL APPROACH

Practical, Skills-Based Support

Our work is grounded primarily in cognitive behavioural frameworks, adapted for the realities of television production.

We focus on:

  • emotional regulation

  • decision-making under pressure

  • managing interpersonal dynamics

  • preparing participants for broadcast exposure

Support is practical and targeted, designed to function effectively within fast-moving production environments.

WHO WE WORK WITH

Production-Focused Delivery

We work across a range of television formats, including:

  • Reality and factual entertainment

  • Documentary and news productions

  • High-intensity and high-exposure formats

Our model supports productions where:

  • contributors are placed under sustained scrutiny or pressure

  • personal narratives are central to the format

  • editorial environments require proportionate safeguarding oversight

We provide structured psychological input for both:

  • participants, through assessment and support

  • production teams, through clear safeguarding guidance

  • crew, where exposure to demanding environments or subject matter requires additional support
